HEALTHCARE WRITING
A clear, accurate writing and editing service for medical consultants, clinics and healthcare providers
Building a strong, well-written brand is increasingly important in private practice (particularly online). Doing it well creates a powerful connection with patients. You grow trust in your expertise, your quality of care, your ability to turn complex topics into clear, approachable language. Ultimately, these things build reputation and drive enquiries.

I provide copywriting support for consultants and surgeons across the healthcare spectrum, with clients from ophthalmology to oculoplastics, podiatry, cardiology, orthopaedics, physiotherapy and more. I can help you build a new website, produce a traffic-generating blog, create patient information sheets, or write case studies that take patients on a journey into your treatments and services.

what kinds of elements go into a good website?
Building a healthcare website takes time, which – to be frank – is an issue for many busy consultants. So I help my clients manage that process. We'll start by working out the concept and structure. Then I'll build up the written content via phone calls and existing material: headlines, calls-to-action, FAQs, treatments, services et al. We'll then sit down with my web design colleague to build a fresh, mobile-responsive site that your patients will love using. Interested in seeing more? Drop me a line and I'll send examples, or draw up a quote.

Includes the creation of a simple Style Guide. This is basically a reference point for your tone, grammar and common spellings. It will help you maintain consistency across your brand in coming years.
blogging
Regular blogging is a hugely effective way to connect patients with your treatments and services. This package starts with a long-list of article ideas (a Content Plan), which we'll draw up together. Each month, you feed in your thoughts and I'll turn them into patient-friendly pieces, with re-edits when needed (read more about the process here.) Interested in seeing some recent examples? why EXACTLY would you
have a blog?
The idea that blog writing fizzled out with faxes and the Millennium Bug is some way off the mark. One recent report found that 89% of business-to-business marketing experts now deploy blogs in their strategy. There's a simple reason for this. With more than 6bn web searches every day, websites that want to rank well (ie, all of them) need to be primed with the detail their readers are actually looking for. This is what Google prioritises in its search algorithms: high-quality, authoritative content that answers people's questions. Which is why regular, well-written blogs often lead to a rise in web traffic, improved search rankings and, ultimately, enquiries. A happy corollary is that they also build trust, showcase your skills and develop a reputation for excellence.

A fantastic writer. He has a great gift for making scientific and medical terminology very accessible and understandable. His writing inspires interest and engagement by the reader and he communicates a message in a very professional yet conversational style.
He always has excellent ideas for stimulating interest and he gauges the subjects which are topical and relevant to the reader.
He is very good at listening and communicating his own views, which are always useful when determining the pitch and tone of a piece. He is very creative and very enjoyable to work with.

case studies
Well-constructed medical case studies put a human face on treatments, clarify the patient journey and provide reassurance around procedures. I create them from phone interviews. Once you've spoken to your patient, just send over their contact and I'll do the rest. Before final sign-off, we'll incorporate everyone's tweaks and edits to ensure all the details are sound and accurate. Read more in my case studies section.
marketing

If you're intending to publish regularly online, the next step is a healthcare marketing plan: social media posts to direct more patients to your blogs, Google business pages to boost the practice profile, pay-per-click ads, email campaigns... the list goes on. I work closely with a marketing colleague who has years of experience in private healthcare promotion and a track record in boosting patient enquiries with ROI. If you're keen to find out more, let's set up a conversation.

editing

Letters, patient information sheets, healthcare articles, a brochure... whatever words you need, I can help you put them together quickly and accurately. We can do this completely from scratch – just call me and tell me what you need to say. Or you may have something pre-written that needs polishing or repackaging. Either is absolutely fine. what's the long-term value of
high quality healthcare writing?
Clear, sensitive communication shows patients you know how to speak their language and get to the heart of the problems they're facing. That helps build long-term relationships and a reputation for considered, patient-centric care. With more people choosing to invest in private healthcare than ever, demonstrating these qualities is important. If they're central to your practice, it's worth talking about them.
